CHULU FAR EAST CLIMBING

​

At an altitude of 6,059 meters, the summit of the Chulu Far East peak offers spellbinding views. From the top of this amazing Himalayan mountain in Nepal, you will be able to see Annapurna I, II, III and IV, as well as other amazing peaks like the Pisang Peak, Gangapurna and Manaslu. Moreover, on the way to the Chulu Far East peak, as well as after you have climbed the mountain, you will get to visit a number of amazing places.

From the moment you get off the plane on the first day of this adventure, you will be thrust into the magical world of Nepal. You will get to explore the capital of Kathmandu, and after that, you will be constantly venturing from place to place. Whether it is during long drives that last nearly 10 hours, or long hikes that will also last several hours, or a short flight that will last less than 30 minutes, you will be immersed in a world you will never forget. Some examples of the spots you will get to visit during this trip include the following.

ITINERARY

​

Day 01: Land to Kathmandu 

You will be welcomed by Himalayan Travel Partner (Viaggio In Himalaya)’s staff after landing at Kathmandu international airport then transfer to the Hotel. Rest day, overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 02:  Visit UNESCO sites in Kathmandu valley and trek preparation 

Let’s start our trip visiting some of historic and cultural sites of Kathmandu valley such as Swaymbhunath (Monkey Temple), Budanilkantha, big Stupa of Boudhanath, Pashupatinath Temple. 

 

Day 03: Drive to Besishahar (850mt) by jeep 6-7 hours

We drive toward Besishahar, located in mid west of Nepal. We pass through hilly region of Lamjung and enter to the gorge between Annapurna and Manaslu. Overnight at Besishahar.

 

Day 04: Drive to  Dharapani (1,950 mt) by jeep 2-3 hours

After having breakfast we drive towards Dharapani passing through Jagat village, Chyamje village and alongside Marshyangdi river. Overnight in Dharapani (lodge).

 

Day 05: Trek to Chame (2.670 mt) 6 - 7 hours

Today is our first day of trek and we pass through rhododendron and pine forests, Bagarchap and Danakyu village, Timang village,  Koto and finally we reach to Chame for night stop. On the way we can also observe nice views of Manaslu and Annapurna II.

 

Day 06: Trek to Upper Pisang (3,300 mt) 6 hours

Around 8 o’clock we start our trek toward Upper Pisang. The trail pass through a beautiful pine forest and Dhikurpokhari village, Lower Pisang and eventually reach to Upper Pisang. Overnight in Upper Pisang. 

 

Day 07: Trek to Nawal (3660 mt) 6 hours

After breakfast we head toward Nawal. On the way we can enjoy beautiful view of Annapurna on opposite side of of our trail. Overnight in Nawal (lodge)

 

Day 08: Trek Yak Kharka (4.320 mt) 4-5 hours

After breakfast, we trek toward Yak Kharka, where we will spend the first night in a tent.

 

Day 09: Trek to Chulu Far West Base Camp (4835 mt) 5-6 hours

Today, we follow a steeply climbing trail to reach at Chulu Far East Base Camp.  The climbing trail at times crosses rocks as well. During the trek, our journey will be accompanied with Annapurna Valley Himalayan views. Camping Overnight at Base Camp.

 

Day 10: climb to  Chulu Far East High Camp  (5334 mt) 6 hours

Today we follow a steep climbing trail through snow slopes. As we continue climbing, we can see amazing view of Annapurna Valley, Chulu East, Chulu West, and the Chulu Far East. Once we reach the Camp we could see the clear picture of Pisang Peak. Our camp will be set up on a rocky platform near a small lake.  Overnight at High Camp. 

 

Day 11 - Ascend to Chulu Far East (6059 mt) and return to Base Camp for night stop 9-10 hours

From early morning by 3-4 am we start climbing toward the summit of Chulu Far East. Our climbing guide will help you in every step while climbing steep slope and even rocky crosses. Finally we reach to the top and we can enjoy the incredible views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Manaslu, Pisang Peak, Chulu west and the Himlung Valley at the north side. After a short stop on the top, we return to the base camp following the vertical slope. Overnight at Base Camp.

 

Day 12: Extra day 

We have one more extra day in case of bad weather condition or need of extra acclimatization day. It can be also used as a relaxation day after successful attempt of summit.

 

Day 13: Trek back to Upper Pisang (3540 mt) 5-6 hours

Trek bak to Upper Pisang village. 

 

Day 14: trek to Chame 6 hours

After breakfast we descent down to Chame village.

 

Day 15:  Drive to Kathmandu by jeep 10-12 hours

Today it will be a long drive day to Kathmandu by Jeep. We pass through Dharapani, we stop in Besisahar for lunch and arrive to Kathmandu by late evening. 

 

Day 16: Free day in Kathmandu

Free day in Kathmandu and possibility we might visit some of the old historic UNESCO site of the valley, do shopping. Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 17: Final departure 

Ready for your final departure from Kathmandu.​

So please note that for safety reasons the guide has the right to partially modify or cancel any trekking route mentioned above. As this adventure takes place in a remote mountainous area, sometimes the weather conditions, health conditions, natural phenomena, etc. can change the route. However, the guide will try to operate the trip as safely as possible and according to the original itinerary.
