ABOUT
16 Days Everest Base Camp Trek actually offers wonderful high mountain views and chance to experience local Sherpa culture, a world famous mountain climbers. We trek inside Sagarmatha National Park, a world heritage site. Our professional Sherpa guide will lead us to the base camp of the Mount Everest. Of course we do not miss climbing Kalapathhar to admire the panoramic views of Mount Everest and other surrounding great Himalayas. Any one in good health condition with average physical fitness can easily join this adventure. The itinerary is carefully designed in order to ensure full acclimatization in our body.
ITINERARY DETAILS
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,350m/4,429ft
Land to Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport and after you will be transferred to the hotel by our team. There will be welcome dinner together with all team. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing 1,350m/4,429ft
Today with tour guide we visit UNESCO sites; Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa. Once, Durbar Square was ancient royals palace of Kathmandu Valley. Pashupatinath temple is a famous Hindus temple. Swayambhunath known as the Monkey Temple and Baudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Trek to Phakding via Lukla (KTM-LUK flight) 2,800m/9,187ft, 3-4 hrs
We take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. We meet the rest of our team in Lukla and start trekking from there. We walk on a trail that gradually descends to Cheplung village from where we get a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila, a sacred mountain which has never been climbed. From here, we gradually descend until Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,438m/11,280ft, 5-6 hrs
Today we walk through a pine forest, along side Dudh Koshi river then we enter to Everest National Park. Eventually we ascend on a steep trekking route and reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 05: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar 3,438m/11,280ft
Today is acclimatization day so quietly we visit Namche Bazaar, biggest Sherpa town of Khumbu region. We may hike-up to Everest View Point to see Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde and so on. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 06: Trek to Tengboche 3,870m/12,697ft, 5-6 hrs
Today we have easy trekking trail until Phunki Tenga. After that we ascend towards Tengboche. Tengboche monastery is the biggest monastery of the Everest region. If we reach there on time we may visit inside the monastery. Overnight in Tengboche.
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche 4,360m/14,305ft, 5-6 hrs
We make our way through lush forests of birch, confer and rhododendron trees. While trekking we can admire beautiful views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. We cross the Imja River to reach Pangboche. We have a lunch at Samare then after short ascend we reach to Dingboche.
Day 08: Acclimatization in Dingboche 4,360m/14,305ft
Rest day in Dingboche for the acclimatization. Optional; we may climb up to Nagarjun Hill to observe the the Imja valley with stunning views of Ama Dablam, Lobuche West, Lobuche East and Lhotse. Overnight at Dingboche.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche 4,940m/16,208ft, 2-4 hrs
We move toward Duglha where we have our tea break. After short rest we ascend to the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The top of the ridge is filled with prayer flags and stones, memorial shrines for climbers who lost their lives on Mt. Everest and surrounding Himalayas. Overnight in Lobuche.
Day 10: Trek to Gorak Shep 5,164m/16,942ft (Everest Base Camp 5,364m/17,599ft) 6-7 hrs
We trek to Gorak Shep and If the weather is clear first we climb to Kala Patthar to enjoy the sunset. The view from the top is outstanding. Only next day we do the Everest Base Camp. Today we can enjoy amazing views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori mountains. Overnight in Gorak Shep.
Day 11: Climb to Kala Patthar to Pherice 5,545m/18,193ft, 7-8 hrs
Depending on weather, if we have already done Kalapatthar the day before we can hike towards Everest Base Camp. In case if we have not yet climbed Kalapatthar we can do so. Then we back to Gorak Shep. After having lunch we descend to Pheriche. Overnight in Pheriche.
Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,438m/11,280ft, 6-7 hrs
We descend down to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla 2,800m/9,187ft, 6-7 hrs
We walk through several suspension bridges, Sherpa’s villages, pass by several monasteries while descending to Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.
Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu 1,350m/4,429ft
We take an early morning flight to Kathmandu. After we can take a rest in Kathmandu or do some personal shopping. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 15: Extra day in Kathmandu
We usually have one extra day in Kathmandu in case of flight cancellation of Lukla. However we still have to visit some remaining UNESCO sites of Kathmandu; Patan Durbar Square and Baktapur Durbar Square. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 16: Final departure from Kathmandu to your home
As your adventure comes to conclude today. Our team drop us off at the Tribhuvan International Airport, usually 2-3 hours before the scheduled flight.
